Candied Apple Pastry Company

After our apple pie/ice cream/cookie fest at the Julian Pie Company, we thought we'd walk off our calories...but first, this!

I wanted to stop by and check it out while the girls remained outside enjoying the sunshine...

The Candied Apple Pastry Company is not on the main drag in Julian, which is kind of nice. We saw it while we were on our way to the Julian Pioneer Museum. It's a cute little red house with a cute homey feel inside. This building used to be the historical Fire House building of Julian but became the Candied Apple Pastry Company in 2003.

This bakery was more like a French bakery/bistro judging from their menu items and the wonderful pastries in their display case...

According to what I've read, their pastry chefs are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America.

Everything is made from scratch - real butter and all that good stuff.

The woman working there was so very friendly and made us feel at home. I really liked the relaxed vibe here. This seems more like a nice place to relax and have a cup of coffee or tea while enjoying their baked goods. It wasn't filled with people either so I liked that as well.

Just look at those bearclaws, cinnamon rolls, tarts and eclairs!!!

Everything looked so good, but of course, you can't get 'em all.

This is I selected for us (Bert and myself) to enjoy for later...the almond bear claw and this cinnamon pecan roll that reminded me of the one we had at Bon Epi, but not as good. Oh, don't get me wrong, this really was EXCELLENT but the pecans you see were only relegated to the top of the pastry and not within or between the rolled layers. This was also different because the nuts were coated with a thick coats of caramel that had a bit of a chew and crunch to it. Loved it!

I'm so glad we stopped here. Friendly service, excellent pastries and off the main street!

We would be walking a few steps up to check out the Pioneer Museum first before having some cider...

I have never seen this place! Probably because I don't get away from the main drag too much. Will have to check this place out on my next visit to Julian! Real butter, awwww yeah :D
