Bert and TC were of the mindset that it was okay to eat dessert first, but put off their donut eating until after our breakfast...
While TC and I were at Sidecar, Bert was next door at Pie-Not ordering the pies that we decided on the night before. We like to be expedient like that.

Their meat pies and sausage rolls were freshly made and ready! It smelled so good in here!

The gal at the counter was really funny, according to Bert. She seemed to enjoy bantering with the customers and trying to entice them to get some dessert, pictured below. Those are lemon bars and Lamingtons (which were bigger than the ones I bought from Deli SA and .50 more).

Bert was curious to try coffee from Australia...

He got the "Flat White", which is this coffee with just a splash of milk in it. No sugar or cream.

I am not a coffee connoisseur, but this tasted burnt to me. Bert, on the other hand, enjoyed it and said it wasn't burnt or bitter at all.

Our (first) two pies...

Bert chose this on, the "That'll do, Pig" - Premium ground beef with finely grated white onions, extra sharp cheese, back bacon in a shortcrust pastry shell with a puff pastry top ($5.50).

This was really good - beef and cheese in a pie? What's not to like?

Our other selection was the "Lozza" (Aussie for "lotsa"?) - A free range egg quiche with back bacon, Gruyere cheese, scallions, and fresh grated nutmeg in a shortcrust pastry shell ($4).

The innards looked a bit eggy.

The crust for both items was really good. I love crust more than the fillings. Of the two, I liked the Lozza a bit better (filling included). I couldnt' really taste much of the nutmeg. Bert liked the meat/bacon pie better.
I was still hungry, I got one more item for us to share, the Daisy & Babe Sag Roll ($4).

It was filled with premium ground beef and pork with finely grated onions and carrots, extra sharp cheese and back bacon rolled in puff pastry. The outer layers were so flaky and shattered when we bit into them, making this a bit messy to eat.

The meat texture was a little too finely ground for me. It was good, but it was a bit "too soft", especially since the vegetables were grated and kind of blended in with the meat. It was kind of like eating baby food but in a puff pastry. I guess I like my meat to have more "tooth" or "texture" to them. It was still delicious though!
First visit to Pie-Not:
early this month, June 2013
Up next, a quick pit stop to Triple AAA for some maps (I know we have a GPS, but I still like having something tangible in my hands)...aaaaand another donut joint!
