Brodard's once again

After our quick trip to the Asian Garden Mall, we made our way to Brodard's. If you see this sign, don't park in the front...

Remember to drive past the front on Westminster Ave, hang a right on Brookhurst, and then a right in the parking lot BEHIND the 99 Cent Store...

I knew it was going to be crazy and chaotic. It was a Sunday and it was noon and everyone and their mother would be here at Brodard's.

The reception area was packed with folks waiting to be seated as well as people waiting for their nem nuong to go orders.

First thing's first, SIL and I both got a few macs to go. We also ordered four nem nuong to go and were told it would be a (gulp) twenty minute wait!

Very crowded it was.

After what seemed like an interminable wait, made worse by the crush of humanity inside the restaurant, our number was finally called. We took our precious cargo and ended up snacking on half of it at an outside table.

My SIL loved the nem nuong and plans to make a return visit with my BIL and the kids. She liked the textures and flavors of the pork roll and of course, their sauce.

Haha, you can see my lipstick on my bitten roll.

I didn't go overboard this time. Just four - Lychee (the red and white two toned one), salted caramel, taro, and key lime (green and white two toned).

The two toned macs were thinner. In comparison to the macs we had at ROCQ and Bon Epi, these weren't as good. They were still better than the ones from Au Coeur.

Below, the macs that my SIL bought from all four locations. The kids all marveled at the pretty colors and were almost hesitant to even eat one. Of course, that feeling didn't last too long!

Here are my macs at home later that evening. The lychee mac ended up cracked.

My favorite was the taro. Bert's was the salted caramel (a flavor I didn't get last time) and TC's was still the lychee. The key lime was kinda the loser of the bunch.

Previous visit to Brodard's:

We would soon be meeting up with the husbands and kids to have a late lunch at the posh hotel restaurant...

Can the spring rolls survive a trip from Westminster to SD (if i wanted to bring some back for my sis or friends). I haven't been to Brodards yet but have read such great things about them. The macs look so pretty - and the lychee one sounds so unique!

hi Faye - I suppose they could! To make it worth your while, order a lot. You can also call in your order so all you have to do is pay and pick it up.

the Lychee one looks pretty but it's rather thin. It kinds of tastes artificial too.
