Return to St. Honore Boulangerie

After our awesome visit at the FreakybutTrue Peculiarium where Bert enjoyed a scorpion topped ice cream cone and we consorted with the likes of a killer ventriloquist dummy and were alien autopsy victims...

we headed across the street to a more genteel location, a local French bakery...

that we'd been wanting to go to since our first visit a few days ago.

THESE suckers were the reason why we were back...

OMFG - Come here for the Choquettes - 1 dozen for $3.99. Little bites of heavenly sugar bombs.

Our first visit here.

Too bad there aren't any places (that I know of) in San Diego that make these. My first and so far, only attempt in making these was a big fail. My batter was too "wet" and they didn't rise or puff properly. I bought the Belgian pearl sugar online but my grains were too large so I had to crush them down. I will try again in the near future. I still keep obsessing thinking about these choquettes...

With the choquettes in our hot little hands, we headed back for our suite where we later on picked up some Thai food for a late night dinner...
