Return to Memelas

Today, TC and I had the pleasure of having lunch with C of Cab Cooks...

It was also another excuse to come back here! Yeah, man!

TC's Jamaica and my Thai iced coffee (before it was mixed)...

If I had to choose between Thai iced coffee and Vietnamese, Vietnamese wins hands down. Still, it's a different type of flavor and it's still good...

Our huge spring roll appetizers - filled with red leaf lettuce, bean sprouts, mint, basic, carrots, and tofu. They were quite herbal and huge. They also rolled it with the ends open. Too bad that peanut sauce dish had a crack in it. Looks ugly, but that sauce was quite tasty...

Our entrees:

I ordered two tacos - This was the Portobello mushroom that had red peppers, onions, cilantro, guacamole and yellow curry sauce (.30 extra)...Delicious!

The other taco was battered shrimp with red curry sauce (which was on top of the white sauce and fresh salsa)...I almost forgot I ordered shrimp because it looked like fish at a quick glance. I ate this first so it wouldn't get soggy. The white sauce was a bit too thick. It was almost like mayo. This might have been better if it didn't have that white sauce in addition to the extra curry sauce. If I get this again, I'll ask them to lay off on the white sauce.

TC got something different this time. No pad thai. Instead, she got the Pad See Ew with beef. I was expecting this to be more of a saucy noodle dish (based on my past experiences with this dish), but there was hardly any sauce. Well, it wasn't dry and flavorless, but again, I was expecting more brown gravy-like sauce. TC liked it especially the wider, flat noodles.

C got the Spicy Noodles with Shrimp. There didn't seem to be a lot of crushed chili peppers or seeds on there but man, did those noodles pack a kick! Very flavorful and deceptively and unassumingly spicy.

We watched some videos of Morrissey, John Lennon (doing "Come Together"), Enanitos Verdes, and some other rock en Espanol groups.  Sadly, no Led Zeppelin or Foo Fighters this time.I still want to try some other stuff on their menu like their Nam Tok and more of their tacos with the different sauces...

Read about my first visit to Memelas here.

Next stop...dessert! Can you guess where?

Heh, I didn't even notice the crack in the sauce dish. Ms. Observant, they call me!

I really liked the noodle dishes here, very flavorful, not just heat. I do wish there was just a bit more sauce in the Pad See Ew since that's kind of the allure about the dish for me. But it was tasty. I really enjoyed the Spicy Noodles. I ordered it medium heat and compared to other versions, the heat probably rated about a 4, which is perfect for me.
