Return to Maye's

[Closed]

Where were we going to next? I had Tacos el Poblano in downtown Chula Vista on my list but hey, I thought it would be cool to check out Maye's Empanadas which is literally a few doors down from the TJ Oyster Bar...

Wave to CAB!

Their cold cases had more items. I just wanted to show you the different flavors offered here. It's pretty much everything under the sun wrapped in a flaky delicious pastry. The cold case to the left was jam packed with empanadas.

Their prices have gone up since I last went here. Prior to that visit, their empanadas used to be $2 each but now range in price from $2.50 and up (I guess it depends on the ingredients as well).

There was an elderly lady in front of us placing a large order. That took longer than expected. Maye, the owner, gave us a couple of empanadas to sample while we waited. I thought that was really nice of her.

One had pork mole (CAB or Cathy, correct me if I'm wrong). And I'm so bad, I don't even remember the other flavor she gave us but it had potato in it! And both were good!

Again, remember we were eating "light". We ordered just two empanadas.

The Hawaiian beef ribs...OMG, so good this was. The meat was shredded, the spice was just right.

The other was the Philly Cheese Steak (Dennis's choice), which was also delicious, especially the roasted peppers!

These were just appetizers for the rest of the day...

Here's CAB's post on our visit...
Up next, a taco truck on the other side of the tracks!

This place was good! And so many varieties... I'm missing the Hawaiian BBQ filled.

The samples she gave us was Pork Mole and the other one was the Breakfast one, I think. I really enjoyed the 2 we got and that philly cheesesteak one was so yummy with all the melted cheese.

Really that good? I wish they didn't raise their prices or I'd be eating here more often. Or, I'd be badgering the lady for her crust recipe. Wait I take that back. I'm too lazy to make my own crust.

if you go here with your husband, you can do the double whammy of TJ oyster bar and Maye's! :)
